FRESHWATER SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB was officially established on 6 December 1908, with approval for operation by the Surf Bathers Association of Australia granted on 10 December 1908. On Anniversary Day 1909, Freshwater held its first surf club carnival.

We're located at beautiful Freshwater Beach, the end of Kooloora Avenue in Harbord on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.  Freshwater Beach is patrolled by volunteer surf lifesavers on weekends and public holidays from the end of September to Anzac Day (25 April) each year. In total we have 16 patrols of approximately 10 members per patrol and each patrol member is rostered on duty around six times throughout the season.

All FRESHWATER SLSC activities revolve around our commitment to Surf Lifesaving.  We are proud to have completed nine decades of life saving at Freshwater Beach and there has never been a life lost while our beach has been patrolled by volunteer club members.

Core Objectives of FRESHWATER SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB:

  • Maintain proud life saving record
  • Equip Patrols with required life saving equipment
  • Encourage and facilitate healthy and balanced competitive participation
  • Create an environment that sparks a passion for community service and team participation within the ranks of our junior members
  • Assist our younger members to build skills that are transferable to other parts of their lives
  • Commence formal consolidation of historical materials in preparation for 100th anniversary
  • Take steps towards the establishment of the Freshwater Surf Lifesaving Club Museum
