The Freshwater Bennett Ironman & Board Classic 2011

The Freshwater Bennett Ironman and Board Classic took place on Sunday November 20th 2011.

The carnival that is now in it's 7th year, was a huge success, attracting over 450 competitors from 18 different clubs. There was a large number of strong competitors coming from Elouera and Bronte in the South to Umina and Swansea Belmont in the North. 

The carnival continues to grow and has a reputation of being one of the favourites to take part in.  Not only is it great fun but we are providing an opportunity for the participants to compete against children from SLS clubs out of the Northern Beaches Branch area.  It’s great to see the out of Branch clubs coming back year in year out and bringing with them a great standard of competition.

The conditions were kind to us again this year.  With a gentle swell and some interesting on shore fog we were able to keep to schedule and run the carnival to time.  All races were keenly contested with some of the State’s leading young surf competitors taking part.  We had the largest number of Freshwater nippers register for this carnival, with over 100 competing.  It was wonderful to see so many of them having a go.
