Proficiency testing is a vital part of maintaining our level of skill

Patrol Season - Saturday 29th September, 2018 - Monday 29th April, 2019

On behalf of the Executive of Freshwater SLSC we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for volunteering your much appreciated hours put in patrolling the best beach on the Northern Beaches.

All patrol members and any competing long serving members are required to complete an annual skills maintenance (formerly known as proficiency) by December 2018.  These requirements are set out in the following circular as issued by SLSA.

An online theory component is available for members wishing to refresh their knowledge via the "Courses" menu in the SLSA Members Area (https://members.sls.com.au/SLSA_Online/modules/login/index.php)

Proficiency dates are set out early in the season and it is recommended that you attend early. This avoids the last minute rush and the chance that work/illness/misadventure prevents you undertaking your proficiency later.

Skills Maintenance Proficiency Dates:

Bronze Medallion/Surf Rescue Certificate/ARTC

You should consider this a skills refresher, not a test.

For Bronze Medallion we will cover:
1.  Run Swim Run (timed)
2.  Rescue (1 of either Board or Tube)
3.  Resuscitation (CPR) with oxygen and defibrillation
