Freshwater SLSC Nippers
Nippers at Freshwater Beach offers a safe and welcoming environment to enjoy beach and water based activities, while focusing on learning about surf, safety and lifesaving. Our Nipper program runs on Sunday mornings. Download our Nipper Handbook – a great resource for all Nipper families!
About
We aim to promote an interest in Surf Lifesaving activities. We teach children water, beach and surf safety and encourage them through activities focused on fun, participation and competition.
Nippers is an activity-based program run to educate young children about surf safety and awareness when visiting a beach. All activities are designed to provide age and experience appropriate challenges.
The Nipper program is held during the summer period on Sunday mornings, starting mid October and running through to late March, with a short break over the Christmas and New Year period.
Age Groups

- Under 6s, Sundays, 8:30 am - 9:30 am
- Under 7s, Sundays, 8:30 am - 9:30 am
- Under 8s, Sundays, 8:30 am - 9:30 am
- Under 9s, Sundays, 8:30 am - 9:30 am
- Under 10s, Sundays, 9:30 am - 11:00 am
- Under 11s, Sundays, 9:30 am - 11:00 am
- Under 12s, Sundays, 9:30 am - 11:00 am
- Under 13s, Sundays, 9:30 am - 11:00 am
- Under 14s, Sundays, 9:30 am - 11:00 am
Competition
In addition to regular Sunday nipper activities, nippers have the opportunity to compete in surf sports at SLS Carnivals. Sydney Northern Beaches branch offer regular carnivals for competitors in both water based events and also beach/land only based events. These are run on Sunday mornings throughout the season at varying Northern Beaches locations. There are pre-requisites for competitors based on proficiencies. Please speak to your age manager for more information if your nipper is interested in competing in carnivals.

U10’s / U11’s / U12’s / U13’s / U14’s 9.15am marshal for 9.30am to 11.00am session

Information & Application for Nipper Board
If your Nipper intends to train regularly and compete for the club in water carnivals, they are eligible to hire a club board for the season.
If you would like to hire a board, please complete the following steps:
- Complete the board agreement form here Board agreement 24-25 season
- Make payment for your board hire via this link: https://shop.freshwaterslsc.com/board-hire/
- Email proof of payment and copy of your board hire agreement to markburrough@hotmail.com
- Mark will then let you know a suitable time to collect your board.

We use TeamApp as our main source information and communication to the Nipper community. If you have nippers in the program or intend on joining Freshie Nippers in the coming season, it is essential that you join the Freshie Nippers TeamApp to stay informed.
